Pipo’s H2 engine

To meet the requirements of the most demanding applications while reaching ever higher efficiency figures with the lowest possible emission levels, Pipo Moteurs is designing engines that are fully dedicated to the combustion of hydrogen. Most differences with existing engines revolve around the combustion system:

  • Design of the air-loop and forced induction system to ensure very lean mixtures (λ>2) and reach record levels of low NOx emissions
  • Design of new cylinder heads to ensure suitable air filling and homogeneisation of the mixture
  • Design of new pistons
  • Adaptation of the injection and ignition systems
  • Adaptation of the blow-by gas recirculation loop

Existing designs of structural components like the engine block, or mobile parts like the conrods and crankshaft do not require major updates.
